Housing of the transformer
Transformer housing
- This shell, depending on the type of transformer, is usually made from plastic, wood, steel, cast iron or thin corrugated iron, and is used to protect the transformer's elements inside, including: the tank cover. and barrel.
- Barrel lid: used to cover the barrel. Above there are parts such as: Output of high-pressure winding and low-pressure winding, Oil expansion tank (auxiliary oil tank) and insurance tube.
3. Operating principle of transformer
The transformer operates according to two physical phenomena:
- Electric current flowing through a wire creates a magnetic field
- The change in magnetic flux in the coil creates an induced voltage (electromagnetic induction phenomenon)
Operating principle of transformer
- Coil N1 and coil N2 are wound on a closed steel core. Apply an alternating voltage U1 to coil N1, on this coil there will be a current I1 flowing in the wire, and at the same time a magnetic flux will appear in the wire for both coils N1 and N2. Coil N2 is connected to the load, then on coil N2 there will be current I2 with voltage U2. Thus, the energy of alternating current has been transferred from winding 1 to winding 2.
4. Uses of transformers
- Transformers can be used to increase the voltage from the generator to the transmission line for long distances, and reduce the voltage at the end of the line to provide the appropriate voltage source for the load.
Applications of transformers
- In addition, they are also used in furnaces, electric welding, measurement or as a power source for electrical and electronic equipment...
Applications of transformers
5. Classification of transformers
Like many other electrical devices, there are many ways to classify transformers:
- According to structure, we will divide into single-phase transformer and three-phase transformer
- According to function, there are low voltage transformers and step up transformers
- According to insulation method: oil core transformer, air core transformer,...
- According to the winding relationship, we divide it into auto transformer and induction transformer
- By task: power transformer, transformer for civil use, welding transformer, pulse transformer,...
6. The best transformer brands on the market
- There are many brands on the market that provide various types of transformers, the most typical of which are:
+ Brand originating from China: Chint
+ Brand originating from Korea: Lightstar
